UNREACHED PEOPLE'S GROUP:
PEOPLE'S GROUP KANURI
The Kanuri are a significant ethnic group primarily found in the northeastern region of Nigeria, particularly in the Borno State, as well as parts of Chad, Niger, and Cameroon. They are part of the larger Saharan and Sahelian ethnic groups, and their language, Kanuri, is widely spoken in these areas.
While the Kanuri are historically associated with Islam, there are still some segments of their population that have limited exposure to the Christian faith, making them one of the "unreached" people groups in terms of Christian missions.
· Population: The total population of Kanuri people is estimated to be over 4 million people, with the majority residing in Nigeria.
· Religion: The majority of the Kanuri people follow Islam. However, there remains a small percentage of Kanuri who may have little or no exposure to the gospel, making them an unreached group in Christian terms.
